Any device that supports Windows Media Format is compatible. See OverDrive's Known Compatible Devices list for a list of supported devices.
If a device isn't on that list, you might be able to use it by burning the audiobook to CD, loading the files into the appropriate software, and transferring the files to the device.
You must have your supported audio device installed on your PC before you can transfer your audio book.
In addition, the book's Digital Rights Information notice must contain the notice "This title can be transferred to a portable device during the lending period". (Some publishers require us to disable "Transfer to device" functionality.)
These instructions are for OverDrive Media Console version 2.1. Transferring files to a portable device is greatly simplified with the use of OverDrive Media Console v2.1, which is available to download now. Instructions for older versions of the OverDrive Media Console are available on the WPLC Digital Books Help Basics page.
Once you've downloaded your audio book, it is available within the OverDrive Media Console to transfer to your audio device. Simply select the audio book you would like to listen to and choose "Transfer" on the toolbar.
The OverDrive Media Console Transfer Wizard will open.
Click Next.
Select the parts of the audiobook you want to transfer to your device, then cilck Next.
Please wait while the files are transferred, then click Next.
A confirmation message will appear. Click Finish. You should now be able to play the audio book from your device.
Audio books that are transfered to portable devices do not expire. You can use the audio files as long as you want.
